|Terrain Rendering Demo:|
Zipped archive containing executables for IRIX, Linux, and MacOS X.
Zipped source code of terrain rendering library which is licensed under the terms of the LGPL. It compiles under IRIX, Linux, MacOS, MacOS X and Windows. The library is also included in the virtual terrain project and an early version is utilized in the DX 8 game AquaNox.
Example Height Field:
The height field and the texture map below show a part of Kluane National Park in Yukon Territory, Canada, and are part of the Yukon Ground Fog Demo. The screen shot on the right was taken on my old-fashioned PowerMac 7500 equipped with a Voodoo 3 2000 and running with 51% load at a target frame rate of 30 frames per second.
The demos compile under IRIX, Linux, MacOS X, and Windows, and require the Mini library. Download the zip archives to the same directory, unpack the archives, and compile the sources with the build.sh scripts. Compile the Mini library first!
1) Zipped archive containing the Yukon Ground Fog Demo. The screen shot on the lower left was taken on an Apple iBook showing that volumetric effects like ground fog can be be rendered even on notebooks with low-end graphics accelerators.
2) Zipped archive containing the Stuttgart Demo. The data set of Stuttgart is courtesy of ifp, University of Stuttgart. It is organized into 8 by 8 tiles with different resolutions. The screen shot on the lower right shows the New Palace of Stuttgart, which is represented with maximum texture resolution. The vicinity of the palace is represented with lower accuracy to save texture memory.
