By Air

Stuttgart has an international airport, which is close to the workshop venue and the conference hotels.

From the airport to the workshop venue:
Take the S-Bahn (suburban rail) line S2 or S3 towards Stuttgart to the stop "Universität" (university). Take the exit "Wohngebiet Schranne-Endelbang/Nobelstraße". It takes 10 minutes to walk from the train station to the Fraunhofer institute center. Alternatively, the taxi journey is approximately 16 km.

From the airport to the conference hotels:
Take the S-Bahn (suburban rail) line S2 or S3 towards Stuttgart. Downtown hotels are close to one of the following stops: "Feuersee", "Stadtmitte", or "Hauptbahnhof". Please check the location of your hotel to identify the most convenient stop. The hotels in Vaihingen are close to one of these stops: "Vaihingen", "Österfeld", or "Universität". By Air (via Frankfurt)

There is a good train connection between Frankfurt airport and Stuttgart. Frequently, long distance trains (e.g., the high-speed train "ICE" or standard "IC" trains) run directly from Frankfurt airport to the main train station in Stuttgart's city center. By Train

By Car to the Workshop Venue

By car via the A8 or A81 motorway; when you reach the Stuttgart interchange (Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart, Stuttgart-Zentrum/S-Vaihingen exit), follow the A831/B14 up to the exit "Universität" (university).

All relevant conference locations can be accessed by public transportation.

From downtown hotels to the workshop venue:

From Vaihingen hotels to the workshop venue:
By S-Bahn (suburban rail) line S1, S2 or S3 from Vaihingen to the stop "Universität" (university). Take the exit "Wohngebiet Schranne-Endelbang/Nobelstraße". It takes 10 minutes to walk from the train station to the Fraunhofer institute center.

The following prices are suited for traveling within 2 zones. These 2 zones cover all relevant locations, i.e., for all conference hotels, the workshop venue, and the social event. Prices are: 3.70 DM per person for a one-way trip; 9.00 DM for a single person day ticket; 14.00 DM for a day ticket for up to 5 persons, who have to travel together. Tickets can be purchased at any train or subway station.
